Tricia
was born on Cape Cod and after many years of travel, study, living
in Mexico, and exploring other interests, she arrived back on Cape
Cod in 2000. She runs her own business (Oasis Integrative Therapies)
offering medical massage and yoga therapy and also runs Everybodies
Yoga out of the Life Center for Health in Orleans, MA.
In 1980 Tricia was trained as a fitness instructor while living in
West Palm Beach, FL. What started out being called “Power-cize” quickly
evolved into dance fitness, which Tricia still teaches regularly at
Willy's Gym (Orleans, MA) 27 years later.
In addition to dance fitness, Tricia has developed “Get on the
Ball” classes using physioballs and concepts from her background
in yoga and dance, bringing a very lively and dynamic workout together
combining the bandhas of yoga and the core muscles of fitness.
Tricia’s extensive yoga training began in 1988 with certification
at the Kripalu Center in Lenox, MA after which she immersed herself
for a year in a 5-day a week practice of Bikram’s Yoga. The mirrored
studio walls reflected her transition from jazz dance and dance fitness
classes into yoga asana. Getting away from the mirrors brought Tricia
deeper into her meditation practice and curious to understand newer
awarenesses attained when focus is turned inward.
Tricia finished a Masters Degree in Psychology at Antioch University
in Seattle in 1994. Using Yoga Therapy as her clinical training she
began an intensive study of Iyengar Yoga with Richard Schachtel and
later Aadil Palkhivala, who she continues to study with to this day.
He opened Tricia up to a deeper understanding of the Heart of Yoga
in asana, which Tricia has continued in other trainings with Rod Stryker,
Shiva Rea, John Friend, Angela Farmer, Tias Little, Theresa Elliott
and Alan Finger.
With two degrees in Massage Therapy, (Twin Lakes College of the Healing
Arts & Seattle’s Brenneke School of Massage) Tricia has blended
anatomy, psychology, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, extensive yoga training,
and dance fitness experience into her own unique and creative style
of love, laughter and free expression.
