What
is Ayurveda and what does it have to do with Everybodies Yoga?
For some American Yoga students there is a propensity to categorize
Yoga as a “form of fitness” , a good way to stretch out
after a good work out.
Yoga can be that.
For anyone who immerses themselves into a deeper understanding of Yoga,
Ayurveda becomes an essential part of our practice.
Ayurveda :
Ayurveda is the oldest surviving complete medical system in the world.
Derived from its ancient Sanskrit roots - ‘ayus' (life) and ‘ved'
(knowledge) – and offering a rich, comprehensive outlook to a
healthy life, its origins go back nearly 5000 years.

In 2004 I was enrolled in an Ayurvedic Practitioner Training at the
Kripalu Institute. Ironically I met Dr. Linda Reynolds seperate from
the Kripalu Institute and I have been working with her for 3 years
as a patient and as an eager student.. Dr Linda calls herself an Integrative
Ayurvedic Doctor. Her wisdom and expertise is astounding..
Dr. Reynolds holds a Masters degree and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nutritional
Science, is a graduate of the Open International University of Complimentary
Medicine and The New England Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine and holds
Diplomat status as an Ayurvedic Health Care Practitioner. Clinical
Internship was served under Vaidya P.C. Yawatkar M.D. in Ahmednagar,
India.
Yoga is essential to the practice of Ayurveda. Ayurveda deserves to
be part of our essential practice and understanding of Yoga.
